MTV publicó la lista oficial de los nominaciones a los Premios MTV Video Music Awards 2009. Beyoncé y Lady Gaga lideran las candidauras con 9 nominaciones cada una, les sigue Britney Spears con 7; Coldplay, Eminem, y Kanye West con 4 cada uno. Las bandas musicales y cantantes que actuarán en vivo son Taylor Swift, Muse, P!nk, Green Day y Mariah Carey. Los presentadores son Katy Perry, Chace Crawford y Ne-Yo.
